How Megan Helps Founders, Operators & Investors

The CFO side of a small, senior practice. Megan runs the close, the forecast, the board reporting, the audit, and the systems that produce the numbers, for companies that need a finance lead every week but not a full-time executive. Technology lives on the CTO side.

01

Fractional CFO & Controller

Forecasting and cash, the monthly close, board and investor reporting, pricing and unit economics, and the systems behind all of it. The CFO seat or the controller seat, whichever you need most. Half a day to two days a week.

02

Interim CFO

The finance seat covered for a fixed term through a leadership transition, a raise, a sale, or a first audit. Three to four days a week, typically three to twelve months, then a handoff to the leader you hire.

03

Financial Due Diligence

Buyer-side or sell-side. Quality of revenue, margins, working capital, the forecast, the books and controls, and the systems. A report that holds up in the data room, in two to three weeks.

Learn more →
04

Financial Systems

Accounting and ERP, close tools, billing and revenue, planning, reporting, and the integrations between them. Selection, implementation, and guidance. Vendor-neutral, no referral fees.

05

Audit Readiness

A first audit, a review, or a lender's reporting requirement, handled by the controller who runs the close rather than a consultant with a checklist. The business keeps moving.

06

Finance Integration

Post-acquisition. Chart of accounts and consolidation, the close calendar, cash and banking, systems, and sponsor reporting folded in on schedule, with the acquired finance team retained.

About

Run by someone who has run it. Not advised on it.

Megan VanWinkle, CPA, MBA. An accounting undergraduate, an MBA, and a CPA, with years in finance and accounting at Disney, where she is currently a manager in financial systems. She has lived with the close, the controls, the reporting, and the systems that produce the numbers, inside a finance organization built to withstand an audit every year.

That is the difference between fractional finance help from someone who has advised on finance and from someone who has run it. Megan brings the second kind to companies that need a finance lead every week but not a full-time executive, sized for where they are.

Finance and Technology

One practice, both seats

  • A CFO and a CTO who already work together. For a growing business or a portfolio company, finance and technology leadership from one practice, without a handoff between firms.
  • Financial systems are where the two meet. ERP, billing, revenue data, and the reporting pipeline are a finance problem and a technology problem at the same time.
  • Diligence from both sides. Financial and technical due diligence from the same team, written for the same committee.
  • An investor's eye. Megan brings the finance lens to our family office's investments, and to our clients' numbers.
Starting points

When people call Megan

The books are behind. A raise or a sale is coming. The finance stack doesn't fit anymore. A first finance hire needs defining. Or the founder is the CFO and would like to stop being the CFO.

Every engagement opens with a two-week finance assessment and a written plan you keep, whether or not the engagement continues.
